CoverGirl Oh Sugar! Tinted Lip Balm Review

Hope you all had wonderful holidays, and a Happy New Year! I am back with my first after-holiday post.

I saw a coupon in the newspaper, and oddly enough that is what led to the purchase of these CoverGirl Oh Sugar! lip balms. What's embarassing, is that I went to buy these two and forgot to bring the coupon!! But, that means I can go back and get two more colors for $2 off...

I got only two colors on my lovely trip to WalMart: #1 (Cupcake) and #9 (Jelly). I don't recommend buying these from CoverGirl's website, because you may be able to find them elsewhere for one or two dollars less. Anyway.

The balm touts moisturizing ingredients like grapeseed oil and avocado butter, and claims to contain vitamins C&E which are important for evening out skin tone and maintaining appearance, respectively.
Left: Cupcake. Right: Jelly.

The balm feels nice on the lips. It glides on really smoothly, like buttah. The color is extremely sheer, but buildable. It doesn't feel greasy or even sticky in the slightest. The only thing I found odd about it was that it smelled slightly minty and was cooling when applied. It wasn't uncomfortable.

Left: Cupcake. Right: Jelly

I love the color Jelly, but am less enthused about Cupcake, which isn't the fault of the balm. My natural lip color is in the medium range, and so Cupcake appears nude as opposed to pinky (see my swatches). I believe that when I go to purchase another two I will get Punch and Sprinkle.

Overall I love these. I love the cutesy name, Oh Sugar! And that the balm colors are named after sweet foods.  I am entering a phase of my life right now where I am beginning to hate wearing lipstick, and will opt for colored balms instead. It is about time to throw out a lot of my old, unused lipstick, anyway. Tinted balms are lighter and easier to maintain after eating/drinking than lipstick.

Happy New Year, Everyone!
